All Work And No Play Makes You Brain Dead!

Education is everything in a child and adult's life.  As a child, the more educated she becomes, the more the ability to think for herself grows.  An educated child will learn to be confident, to ask questions, and to form her own opinions of the events going on in the world around her.  Just look at the Trump administration right now.  Questions are threatening to the administration.  President Trump is thin-skinned!

But that's not the point here.  The point is: education is necessary for every child worldwide.  We are in the year 2017. Every  child should have a level playing field and that is our goal.  Same goes for an adult: if an adult mind does not continue educating herself, it will deteriorate or become stunted.

Is Balance The Key To Life?

With that said, if a child or an adult doesn't exercise her mind with play (meaning physical activities that they enjoy), their mind will deteriorate and not grow as well.  Very simplistic, so what's the point of this short article?  It is that balance is extremely important in all aspects of life!

If you work 12 hours a day, chances are that it will catch up to you and you will feel tired and depressed at some point.  If you play too much, you won't be investing your time not learning and growing.   What activities can help you relax yet enjoy nature?  How about reading, fishing, paddleboarding, kayaking, hiking, basketball, going on a picnic?

For most water sports, you can rent or buy kayaks from a site after you read reviews like Oru Bay kayak reviews. The rest are even cheaper!  You can stop at a bookstore for a book, get cheap fishing supplies, walk with good shoes on a mountain or pack a couple of sandwiches.

The lesson here?  Combine that ying with some yang!

The Advantages Of Becoming Bilingual Or Multilingual

Did you know that there are over 70,000 languages across the globe and that over half of the world's population speaks at least 2 languages? Even in seemingly monolingual areas like Russia, North America and Canada, there are still an astonishing number of multilingual speakers. In some countries, it’s even common to speak 3 or 4 or more languages. But what’s really going on with the bilingual or multilingual craze? Why do half of the globe’s population speak at least 2 languages? The answer is simple; learning a second or third or fourth language comes with tons of benefits. They include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Speaking More Than One Language Makes You Smarter

A study that was conducted a few years ago found that people who could speak 2 or more languages had higher levels of cognitive brain function. They were more successful at planning, solving problems, and accomplishing other mentally demanding tasks. Bilingual or multilingual individuals have more grey matter than monolingual individuals. The fact that these people are usually forced to switch between languages is like an overall exercise for the brain. It makes them faster, smarter and better when it comes to accomplishing more than one task at the same time. Management of 2 or more languages leads to phenomenal cognitive benefits!

2. Career Boost

When it comes to business, we know that communication skills are key. As more organizations grow beyond borders in today's global economy, the ability to communicate in more than one language has become an important consideration in the labor market. Research shows that individuals who speak at least one foreign language have a higher average annual household income than their monolingual counterparts. Whether you are a seasoned executive or fresh out of college, one fact remains true; speaking more than one language puts you in another league. Becoming fluent in a second or third language can help you stand out among the crowd, opening more doors to opportunities for you.

3. Meeting New People

Another important advantage of learning a new language is the fact that you get to expand your inner circle. For instance, learning in a group setting allows you to meet new people to share your new language with and immediately establish new friendships. Also, when you go somewhere and are actually able to put what you have learned into practice, you will be amazed at how open people are when you speak their language. Although learning a new language takes time as well as dedication, the results are worth every hour and effort that you put in.

4. Becoming More Creative

The ability to speak more than one language indeed comes with tons of benefits! Another phenomenal advantage of bilingualism or multilingualism is that you become more creative. Learning a new language can boost your problem solving and logical thinking capabilities to a great extent! While it has been proven that children are likely to learn a second language more easily than adults, it's certainly never too late to learn. Regardless of your age, becoming bilingual or multilingual will certainly provide you with numerous practical benefits in today's global society.

Should You Learn Spanish? Should You Learn English? WHY?!

Let's be honest about this: we are living in a tricky world where a fair amount of Americans think, "Why should we learn Spanish? Why won't Spanish immigrants learn English?"  For a lot of Americans, this question makes sense.

For the rest of the world, this is an egotistical viewpoint and a very limiting one.  While Spanish immigrants should make the effort to learn English for an easier life, so should Americans learn Spanish (& other languages) and catch up to the rest of the world.  Most European countries, people speak 2-5 languages commonly.

This is  a great video.  Please drop us a line and let us know what you think!
